2005 | 2004 | 2003 | 2002 | 2001 | 2000 | 1999 December 27, 1999 - Find out what four features we think will distinguish Atriarch from other games. Gamespot has posted an interview with Serafina, Lead Game Designer. Read the full interview here. December 22, 1999 - GA-RPG has posted a First Look about Atriarch along with 7 new Exclusive Screenshots. December 21, 1999 - Woohoo! The word about Atriarch is spreading! It is in fact confirmed that Atriarch is covered in Inquest Magazine Issue 57 (January) as one of the "Most Promising Games of 2000." Atriarch was also mentioned in the December issue of PC Accelerator magazine. If you flip to page 39, turn the magazine counterclockwise and then squint... yes.. that's us! I think everyone should email the editors at mike@pcxl.com and ask what it takes for Atriarch to get some horizontal coverage ;-) Special thank you to our friends down under... a few months ago PC PowerPlay, Australia's PC game magazine, covered Atriarch in their Online RPG News. December 16, 1999 - As promised, the new screenshots of the Lokai Character-Species are up. December 11, 1999 - A friend told me that Atriarch is hailed (hehe.. I've always wanted to use that word) as one of the "most promising online games of the new millennium" in Inquest Magazine. (They supposedly mention of couple other games, but I'm going to pretend it was only about us. *grin*) Once I am actually able to fight my way to a coveted parking spot amidst a hoard of raging holiday shoppers, I'll buy a copy of Inquest Magazine and confirm whether this is true. coming soon... Thanks to the many people who sent in their ideas for a game design diary. We've decided to give it a try and see how it goes. We'll post a news item up when the first entry is made. Also, check back the middle of next week when we'll post a couple new screenshots with some Lokai Characters in them. December 9, 1999 - Our friends at Crossroads have put up a new Atriarch fansite called Crossroads of Atriana. December 7, 1999 - Last night took an interesting twist. I had the opportunity to hang out and chat with the boys from Gamespy (they're in the same building as us). Hi to Fargo, Walla, Mr. Pants, AtMosFear, and The Bastard (who is under the delusion that his car is safer parking in front of our offices instead of his... muhahaha) Anyway, I showed them several Atriarch creature animations and particularly my favorite.. the organic Tyrusin backpack which is actually a nifty little critter. AtMosFear was was kind enough to give me a tour of the Gamespy offices. (I had no idea you could pack that many people into such a small space.) All the guys were great to meet and really nice! I must say though that the true highlight of my night was the used Gamespy mug AtMosFear gave me (complete with coffee crud stuck to the bottom). Woohoo! I can now retire my old Spectrum HoloByte mug. Well, it seems as though they want me to do a design diary for Atriarch. What do you think? Would you like to read a design diary about Atriarch? Email me at: diary@atriarch.com and let us know what you would like to read or not read and how often. December 6, 1999 - The highly active Atriarch Stratics discussion board is down due to hardware upgrades. We recommend that in the meantime you join the spirited discussions on the Atriarch VaultNetwork board. December 2, 1999 - Happy December! This seems to be the season for interviews. LaSource (in French) has posted a French version and an English version of a new interview about Atriarch. After the release of Atriarch's first screenshots, World Fusion was overwhelmed with positive and encouraging feedback. Thank you to everyone who sent us email about your excitement and eagerness to play Atriarch. Since then lots has been happening... I took a trip to Austin, Texas to attend the Game Developer's Conference Roadtrip. While in Texas, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with other online developers. I also attended an impressive demo for the new nvidia GeForce showing off its performance while rendering a gazillion and two polygons in realtime. I am definitely looking forward to testing Atriarch on this card :-) Currently, the Atriarch team is focusing on a few key communication and performance features. Also, a new and expanded team of talented writers is in place to continue development of Atriana's culture and story. Thank you to everyone for your continued interest and support! September 6, 1999 - Since most print magazines do not contact us to let us know they have covered Atriarch in their magazine, we rely on gamers to tell us. Thank you to Quinton Evans from PC Gameworld. He informed us about an article on Atriarch in the Australian game magazine PC Powerplay (September issue). July 3, 1999 - Today my June subscription to Computer Gaming World arrived in the mail. (Johnny, I'll miss your monthly editorials. Congratulations to you and your new wife.) Well, I'm reading along and imagine my surprise to find Atriarch listed at the top of the CGW's Pipeline of upcoming releases (page 40). Well, apparently they know something I don't...the game is slated to be released Q4 '99? hmm....that is interesting considering that no dates at all have been given to anyone, especially a release date! Anyway, to make up for this little slip up, I think they should do a full feature article and cover story about Atriarch. Yes, that's it! In fact, I think everyone should email the new editor-in-chief, George Jones, and give him a big welcome by letting him know about Atriarch. You can send letters to Computer Gaming World at: cgwletters@zd.com (Be nice...no spamming.) Serafina, Lead Game Designer June 30, 1999 - Thank you to Jonric for setting up a new Atriarch Discussion Board on the VaultNetwork. Please note that every single email sent to World Fusion has been answered. If you have not received a response, then you may be one of the many emails returned to us "undeliverable." When sending us email, please double check your "reply" address. Thank you. June 18, 1999 - Dean at Betazine is hosting a new Atriarch Fan site: NoHumans.com.
